Maternity Reflexology £40

Maternity Reflexology is a pressure point massage of the body reflexes on the feet and hands that works to balance the whole body. A reflexologist can not diagnose anything. Treatment length is 1 hour 15 minutes and please allow 15 minutes for consultation.

This treatment is currently only available to those women who are over 12 weeks pregnant due to my insurance.

Maternity Reflexology can support a lady during her pregnancy journey as it aims to optimise the physical and emotional health of the pregnant woman.. Reflexology has many benefits such as aiding relaxation, reducing anxiety, generally de-stressing and improving sleep.

Some women seek reflexology for support with common conditions that can arise such as constipation, low back pain, heartburn, anxiety, depression etc or to help prepare their body for birthing.

One of the main reasons I find people seek reflexology is to allow them time away from a busy life for some me time to aid relaxation and sleep.

Research

There has been a number of research studies into reflexology and pregnancy.

  • Two studies have shown that reflexology in pregnancy significantly reduced pain during labour and reduced the length of the first stage labour.
  • One study showed improved quality of sleep in post-natal women
  • One study showed that 6 weekly treatment of reflexology prior to giving birth on women who experience low back and /or pelvic girdle pain during their pregnancy significantly reduced the second stage of labour by 44.3 minutes
  • Reduced pain and stress levels for women with low back pain or pelvic girdle pain
  • Foot Reflexology was found to have a positive effect in lowering the total anxiety scores of women in labour.

Your requirements

On first contact I will talk to you about any medical conditions effecting you to establish if reflexology is suitable or if you have any contra indications that would affect the treatment.

Your treatment will include a full consultation, followed by cleansing and reading the feet.

On all future treatments I will complete follow up consultations and discuss how you felt after the previous session.

For you comfort I set my treatment room up with soft lighting and gentle music playing. I use unscented creams or waxes and do not have my oil diffuser on as I know that pregnant ladies sometimes are sensitive to smells and as I’m not aromatherapy trained I wouldn’t want to cause any discomfort. All my maternity reflexology treatment are completed in my comfy armchair and my foot stall, I have extra pillows and blankets for you to use to make yourself comfy to help aid your relaxation.

Cream, Balm, Oil or Wax

At every treatment we discuss the different mediums I offer to find out your preference and suitability. I use the most natural, organic and pure products.  Some of the creams and oils that I use are vegan friendly. I choose products not containing nut oils because of the chance of nut allergy. Please make me aware of any allergies so I can check ingredients.

General Aftercare for Reflexology

As every-bodies experience of Reflexology is different so it is not possible to know in advance how you will react to a treatment and what benefits you would get.

After every reflexology treatment I give aftercare advice which can vary based on your experience or reason for seeking a treatment. Any advice given is optional but is  to help you get the best results from your session.

Some general advice following any holistic treatment are

  • Drink plenty of water 6-8 glasses to help you stay hydrated and flush out any impurities from your body.
  • Rest and Relax as this will help aid your relaxation
  • Try to avoid stimulants like tea, coffee, alcohol for 12 hours

During my maternity reflexology training I gained knowledge in general lifestyle and may advise you of any small changes that may help your situation.
