Garden Treatment Room
Decision for a treatment room
In January 2018 I decided that I wanted a treatment room at my property. To be able to have it at my property it needed to be in the garden. By having a treatment room I would be able to offer more appointment times and have more family time. I researched whether I needed planning permission from the local council to have a out building in my garden.
I then explored the different styles of rooms available and the space available. Visited different log cabins suppliers and searched the internet but just couldn’t find the right style and size. I then came across a small local company that make bespoke log cabins. On first meeting with the log cabin company they asked me to describe how I pictured it. I then went away and had to decide whether it was definitely what I required.
A decision was made quickly and I made further contact with them to discuss the finer points. A month or so later I p laced my order got it booked in the diary and then paid the deposit.
My husband and I emptied our existing shed, did a number of tip runs and took a few days to knock down the shed. Once the shed was down we then dug the base, filled it with hardcore and then cemented. The base was completed and then we were just waiting for the cabin to arrive.
Purchasing items for the garden treatment room
In the meantime of waiting for the log cabin I started to make purchases for the treatment room. Firstly it was a new massage couch cover in a aubergine colour and more CND Shellac and Vinylux colours. I then searched the internet for business card stand, poster stands and other display items I received these in time to take along to an event at a local school.
After I attended a maternity reflexology course I decided I wanted to own a saddle stool and needed a new foot stool. Which I could use straight away for all my reflexology treatments. It was probably one of the best purchases I have made as the saddle stool is very comfortable for myself to sit on and the foot stool has multiple height settings so can be altered to fit each clients comfort.
I have been purchasing products to be displayed and used as testers. Products I purchased were Neals Yard Remedies Organic hand lotions, foaming bath, pumice scrub and foot balm. Other purchases included Fruity nail files, Glitters for nails, Reflexology waxes so I had more variety to offer clients.
I brought some essential items like pedal bin, anti-bacterial wipes, hand washing bowl, bath mat and water jug. Of course I also ordered the flooring for the log cabin
The Arrival of the log cabin
The log cabin arrived and was built on 14th August 2018. It was amazing to see how the log cabin was built. The log cabin company worked non stop until it was up. Once the cabin was complete my husband then worked hard to lay the flooring and I soon started moving my equipment into the space. I took a trip to a furniture store to buy a comfy arm chair and then made decisions on lighting and heating.
As soon as everything was set I started allowing clients to the treatment room for their appointments and I now give my clients the choice to either come to my treatment room or I go out to them.
The clients experience in my treatment room
For every appointment I always play some nice relaxing music and have some essential oils in my colour changing diffuser. The temperature in the room is comfortable and I check on my clients comfort throughout their treatment.
I have a jug of cold water and clean glass in the treatment room ready for my clients which I encourage them to drink before, during and after a treatment.
There is a number of items on display which are available for try and some cane be purchased from me directly.
