On offer is a 19th-century George Jones porcelain cup and saucer dating to around 1876, finely hand painted with botanical foliage and delicate insects. George Jones & Sons, founded in Staffordshire in the mid-19th century, became one of the most respected English porcelain manufacturers of the Victorian period, noted for their refined shapes, distinctive handles and high-quality decoration. This example features a pink-glazed interior, gilt detailing and the rare triangular (7-shaped) handle characteristic of some of their more unusual designs. The saucer echoes the same naturalistic decoration, all executed with crisp Victorian artistry. Condition is good for its age, with only minor wear including a small wear spot on the handle. Cup height approx 65mm; saucer diameter approx 135mm. A fine and collectible piece of George Jones porcelain with exceptional decorative quality.
