Majolica Jardiniere Victorian Oak and Blackberry Planter

On offer is a large Victorian majolica jardiniere, modelled in a bold naturalistic form with a deeply textured tree bark ground. The exterior is richly decorated in high relief with oak leaves, acorns, trailing blackberry vines, and delicate pink blossoms, all finished in traditional lead glazed colours. The interior is glazed in a distinctive pink majolica finish, framed by a twisted ochre rim that adds visual contrast and depth. Majolica production flourished in England during the late 19th century, particularly within the Staffordshire potteries, where makers such as Minton, George Jones, and Holdcroft popularised rustic garden inspired wares. Although unmarked, this example displays the heavy potting, sculptural modelling, and natural motifs associated with Staffordshire majolica of the 1870–1890 period. A strong decorative piece that reflects the character and craftsmanship of Victorian ceramics.
